Job Purpose:
The Agrifood Specialist is responsible for providing expertise in the production, processing, and marketing of agricultural food products. This role ensures the optimization of supply chains, compliance with food safety standards, and the development of sustainable agrifood systems that align with business goals and market demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical knowledge and advice on crop cultivation, livestock management, and food production techniques.
- Identify innovative methods to improve food quality, yield, and sustainability.
- Stay updated on advancements in agrifood technology and integrate them into existing systems.
- Develop and manage efficient supply chains for agricultural food products.
- Research and identify market trends to align products with consumer demands.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance product distribution and accessibility.
- Ensure all agrifood products meet regulatory and food safety standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of agricultural and food processing facilities.
- Implement and monitor quality control systems to maintain product excellence.
- Promote sustainable agricultural practices to minimize environmental impact.
- Develop strategies to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency in food production.
- Support initiatives for organic farming and environmentally friendly packaging.
- Provide training and support to farmers, food producers, and supply chain partners.
- Educate teams on best practices in agrifood production, handling, and marketing.
- Conduct workshops and seminars to disseminate knowledge on emerging trends.
- Participate in R&D activities to develop innovative agrifood solutions.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for improving processes and products.
- Collaborate with research institutions and industry experts on agrifood innovations.
- Build relationships with farmers, suppliers, government agencies, and industry partners.
- Act as a liaison between agribusiness teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Represent the organization at industry events, forums, and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or specialization in Agrifood Systems, Sustainable Agriculture, or Food Safety is an advantage.
- 5+ years of experience in agriculture, food production, or related industries.
- Proven track record in agrifood project management or consultancy.
